Job Title: Bereavement Services Assistant
Location: Sidley House, Trafford, Manchester
Hours: Part Time – 3 days per week (22.5hrs)
Working in our dedicated children’s bereavement centre, Sidley House, you may be the first point of contact for bereaved people contacting the service. You will need to communicate sensitively; ensuring families are given clear information about the support Once Upon a Smile can offer.
We are a small team so flexibility is essential, staff may be required to carry out other duties
within bereavement services other than those listed below.
Ideally, we would like to hear from those who have previous experience of working in a bereavement setting.
Being a people person is key, you’ll be answering calls from family, friends, and 3rd parties when a loved one has died. You will be offering condolences and providing information about Once Upon a Smile.
Part of this role is to work alongside our Bereavement Support Practitioners gathering information from referrers to process referrals accordingly. This is a challenging role and requires a high level of resilience, drive, patience along with excellent communication skills.
All administrative duties required to facilitate the delivery of high-quality bereavement services.
Support with the preparation of materials and organisation of a range of programmes including; residential weekends, memory days, bereavement groups.
Welcome and respond to visitors to Smiles House and where required communicate any relevant policies and procedures.
To participate in the arrangements for scheduling appointments, booking meeting rooms; typing and telephoning invitations to families as directed by the Bereavement Development Manager.
To update records on our database and other electronic and paper formats, and to support the effective management of office filing systems
Make trips for tasks including collecting resources and general office supplies.
Liaise with outside agencies and referrers as instructed by the Bereavement Development Manager.
Dealing with incoming/outgoing post and resources.
