Ben Nevis, or Beinn Nibheis in Scottish Gaelic (‘head in the clouds’), rises dramatically above the town of Fort William in the West Highlands of Scotland. It is 1344m/4411ft high and it’s
not unusual to walk through old winter snows on the higher parts of the mountain in May or even June!

You will need to cope with steep, rocky paths and a long ascent and descent to enjoy the walk up AND down Ben Nevis. A lot of people say the walk down is surprisingly harder! With the difference in height from sea level in Fort William, it’s a big climb!

Worthy of a fantastic day on this highest peak. We start our Climb Ben Nevis walks from the Ben Nevis Visitor Centre at Glen Nevis, which is about 11 miles in total via the historic ‘Pony
Track’ and can usually take up to 8 hours.

Your itinerary

We recommend you journey to Fort William the day before so you are rested and ready to start
walking after breakfast. You will need to access Ben Nevis Visitor Centre (car park) by bus, taxi or car from Fort William.

Scafell Pike is England’s highest mountain at 978m/3209ft high, set in the quieter, western side of the beautiful Lake District National Park. Its neighbouring peaks are also high, but Scafell Pike broods over them and its heap of volcanic boulders littering its high ground make for some challenging walking at times.

On the mountain, you are walking in the footsteps of Vikings, Romans, local farmers and early mountaineers as they forged their way up and over these dramatic Central Fells of Lakeland.
You will be joined by qualified local Mountain Leaders who will share their enthusiasm and advice with you all the way. Each stride up is worth it as you head ever higher into the mountain’s unique, mythical environment full of drama… enjoy YOUR Climb Scafell Pike adventure.

Your itinerary

We recommend you journey to the Keswick/Borrowdale area the day before, to make the most of your walking day and make sure you’re fresh and prepared. A typical Climb Scafell Pike day will follow this itinerary, we will be in touch before your event if it’s likely to be any different.

Yr Wyddfa (as it is known in Welsh) is the highest peak in Wales and at 1085m/3560ft high, it’s a tough climb to reach the summit.

However, you are rewarded with tremendous views over the coast and northern Snowdonia from its lofty heights. If the cloud obscures the views from the summit, there is still plenty of exciting mountain terrain to view around you. You will be joined by qualified local MountainLeaders who will share their enthusiasm andadvice with you all the way. Each stride up is worth it as you head ever higher into the mountain’s unique, mythical environment full of drama… enjoy YOUR Climb Snowdon adventure.

*Depending on weather and group size, your leader might choose to take the local bus up to Pen Y Pass and walk the PYG Track or the Miner’s Path to the summit. You will need to bring £3 for a single bus fare as you’ll still walk back down the Llanberis path to start location.

**There is often a large queue for a picture with thesummit trig point, which is located on a man madecairn (stone structure). There will not always be time to join the queue for this photo so do be reassured that Yr Wyddfa’s true summit is actually the plateau upon which the cairn stands.
